CFN Women's Self Defense Classes @ CIWA Youth Forum

On February 15th the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association's (CIWA) Youth Forum will take place at the Marlborough Community Association. An afternoon of free family friendly activities and performances include include CFN’s women’s self-defense program, taught by instructors from Western Canada Martial Arts Academy (WCMAA). WCMAA, specialist is Jeet Kune Do, created by the late Sijo Bruce Lee and carried on through living legend Guro Dan Inosanto, taught weekly classes here at CFN throughout the fall and early winter.

Self defence classes often lead those who participate to walk out as determined, strong, empowered individuals ready to take control of their own lives. A self defence can educate in showing us the options available to take control, build our inner strength and feel safer. Further still, knowing that we have the ability to defend ourselves in any given situation we're put into often helps us more fully explore the world, take on new projects, meet new people and find new ways to engage with those around us.

For a quick peak inside a self-defense class and to hear CFN CEO Anila Lee Yuen talk about the importance of such a initiative take a look below. We look forward to seeing you at on February 15th!
