March is Community Awareness Month - How Will You Be a Part of It?

Did you know that there are 151 community associations in Calgary providing you with endless opportunities right in your backyard, events that bring you together as neighbours, and a voice on behalf of your community on issues that affect you? You may also not be aware these community associations are run by volunteers - your neighbours, your friends, and maybe even your family. In fact, there are over 20,000 volunteers involved, making it the largest collective volunteer movement here in Calgary!

The Federation of Calgary Communities is spearheading the 2017 Community Awareness Campaign. This special month of community engagement, proclaimed as such by Mayor Nenshi himself, kicked off yesterday with “How Will YOU Be Part of It" being this year's campaign name.

In the end, community associations are not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing you with social, recreational and educational opportunities close to home, a variety of special events to bring you together as residents, and a voice for your community.  So take a minute during March Community Association Awareness Month to be part of it.
