CFN Collaborates With Empower & Enactus Calgary

Empower, from Enactus Calgary,  is a business Skills Training Program that exists to teach entrepreneurial skills and business fundamentals to educated immigrant women. Their project complements the current skill set of immigrant women and empowers them to start their own business. Through collaboration with various immigrant organizations, women with an entrepreneurial desire will be identified as candidates. Over the course of the coming year, women will participate in workshops run by students / faculty from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, and industry speakers to teach them the fundamentals of business. Workshops will cover key topics, such as marketing, budgeting, financing, staffing and building a strategic business plan.

The Centre for Newcomers is collaborating with Empower on this project and will be holding an information session on Thursday, December 8, from 2.30pm -3.30pm at the Centre for Newcomers. For more details give us a call at 403-648-2219.
